Questions: About La Vista Safaris
____________________________________________________________________________________________
What age range are the guests?
Guests range in age from 24 to ?. (Average age is
30 or 40 something.) The diversity of ages and backgrounds
makes for a rich experience.
Am I too _______________ ?
(Insert word of your choice: old, heavy, slow, wimpy,
etc.)
The La Vista experience is geared for women of all
body types, ages and backgrounds. If you are in reasonably
good physical condition and enjoy the outdoors, then
you'll enjoy La Vista activities. We encourage a
hurry free, enjoyable pace, and provide an environment
free of judgement or competition. Each guest is required
to assess her own abilities and conditions when deciding
to join the safari. How your experience affects you
is intimate and is not based on anyone else's perceptions.
We don't recommend La Vista for women who are pregnant,
have major health problems, existing injuries, or
who take medication that would restrict breathing,
or impair good judgment.
Can I come by myself?
Most definitely, and many La Vista guests do attend
on their own. By the end of the safari, everyone
has fabulous new friends. We offer private room accommodations
for solo guests and shared rooms for pairs of friends.
How should I pack for the weather?
Carmel-by-the-Sea is in coastal Northern California,
so weather can vary from sunny to foggy and back
again within hours. Carmel Beach is not considered
a bikini beach, but afternoons can be quite comfortable.
Pack everything from tank tops to a warm jacket and
pants, and don't forget shoes for hiking. Pack something
fun for a night on the town, or, if our weather permits,
a beach bonfire.
What do I need to bring?
Just pack your personal effects. We do recommend
a camera and journal to record your experience at
La Vista. La Vista provides your bike, kayak, and
paddling suit free of charge. Carmel has plenty of
shopping opportunities, so credit cards are handy.
Transportation to scheduled activities is also provided,
and restaurants and shops are within walking distance.
Are meals included?
All safaris include: daily breakfast at the Cypress
Inn, welcome drinks and appetizers on arrival, and
the first day's lunch. For all other lunches and
dinners, you'll have dozens of amazing restaurants
and cafes to choose from, all within walking distance.
You can treat yourself to a four-course French meal,
a Japanese bento box lunch, or deli sandwich at nearby
Neilsen's Market. Our concierge can make recommendations
and reservations.
When and where should I schedule
my flight?
The first and last days of your trip are travel days.
If you are flying in, book your flight to Monterey
Peninsula Airport (MRY), between the hours of 10am
and 4pm Pacific Standard Time, and we'll pick you
up. If you are flying into San Jose or San Francisco,
we can recommend a shuttle service. If you are driving
in, check-in begins around 3pm, and orientation begins
at 6pm.
Can I attend La Vista without the hotel?
As an all-inclusive safari, our program has been
carefully planned to create a seamless experiences
for our guests, so we are unable to exclude the hotel
cost from our program.
